Είμαι η πληγή και το μαχαίρι!

Το μάγουλο και το χαστούκι!

Η ρόδα και τ' αποκομμένο χέρι!

Τ' αθώο θύμα κι ο δήμιός του!

Είμαι της καρδιάς μου ο βρυκόλακας

-κάποιος πολύ εγκαταλειμμένος,

σε γέλιο αιώνιο αγγαρεμένος,

χωρίς να δύναται πια να γελάσει!
